Derek A. Jones, MD, F.A.C.S.

Dr. Jones is Board Certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and the Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the Escambia County Medical Society. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Florida State College of Medicine and regularly teaches medical students, pharmacy students and nurse practitioner students.

 

Dr. Jones graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University and cum laude from the University of Alabama, School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed a six-year residency in the Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Michigan.

 

Dr. Jones chose to return to his hometown of Pensacola and has been in practice in the Department of ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery at the Medical Center Clinic since 1999. Upon arriving at the Medical Center Clinic he worked closely with a pioneer of facial plastic surgery in Pensacola, Dr. Samuel J. LaMonte. He assumed Dr. LaMonte’s practice when Dr. LaMonte retired in 2001.

 

Dr. Jones has served on the Escambia County School Health Advisory Committee and the Escambia County Board of the American Cancer Society.  He has also served on numerous committees at West Florida Hospital and at the Medical Center Clinic. He currently is on the Board of Directors of the Medical Center Clinic.

 

He is married to the former Julie Marks of Tampa, and they have four children. He and his family are active members of First United Methodist Church. His outside interests at this time are centered on spending time with his busy family.
